About City Year Los Angeles

City Year is a nonprofit organization that unites diverse young people for a demanding year of full-time service, giving them the skills and opportunities to change the world.  As tutors, mentors, and role models, these idealistic leaders make a difference in the lives of children and transform schools and neighborhoods across the U.S. and in South Africa. City Year is a proud member of AmeriCorps. City Year Los Angeles was founded in 2007, inspired by a challenge grant from the Goldhirsh Foundation and a lead gift from the Hauptman Family Foundation.
